Agricultural economics professors and student receive regional awards

Curtis Jolly, a Charles W. Barkley Endowed Professor of Diversity, received the Southern Agricultural Economics Association Lifetime Achievement Award, the highest honor of the association. Jolly has been in the agricultural economics department for 35 years and is a former department head. His major research responsibilities have been in the areas of international trade, economics of aquaculture, the effects of aflatoxin on the marketing of peanuts in Ghana and Benin, the economics of soil conservation and economic development.

Henry Kinnucan, alumni professor, and Ph.D. student Alice “Li” Gong received the Journal of Ag and Applied Economics Outstanding Journal Article Award.

Kinnucan’s main areas of research are agricultural prices, marketing and trade. He has authored or co-authored over 100 journal articles on these topics and co-edited four books.  

Gong’s dissertation addresses price analysis, market response and trade effects of agricultural commodities in both China and the U.S. She is expected to graduate in May.
